Jackson is excited to get roasted

We are just days away from the WGR Celebrity Roast of Fred Jackson on Thursday, February 15th at the Grapevine Banquets in Depew!

Many of Fred's former teammates will be in attendance to roast the former Buffalo Bills running back, including Ryan Fitzpatrick, Eric Wood, Aaron Williams, and Bryan Scott.

Jackson took some time to chat with Jeremy White on Tuesday morning, but said that he is not prepared for what he is expected to hear in the coming days.

"This is my first [roast]," Jackson said. "I haven't had the opportunity to talk to anybody else that has been roasted, but I can just tell what the lineup of the guys that they have waiting for me. It's going to be a lot of fun to participate in, and I'm excited to see what's said about me."

It has been a while since Fred last played in the NFL, last spending time with the Seattle Seahawks during the 2015 season. Although he has been away from the game for a couple of seasons, Jackson tries his best to keep in touch with the game, and all of his former teammates.

"I try to talk to as many guys as possible," Jackson said. "Every week, I'm sending out text messages and receiving text messages from guys. With social media, it's a lot easier to stay in contact with guys, so we all try and maintain that level of friendship. I was just talking to C.J. [Spiller], Frank Summers and Tashard Choice; we were talking about going down to South Carolina some time and hang out with those guys. We try to do as much as possible to stay in contact."

Among the list of roasters for the event next Thursday is Fred's twin brother, Patrick. If there is one person he is worried about the most when it comes to stories and jokes to crack, Patrick is the one Fred has his eyes on.

"He's spent all 37 years with me, so he has the most to roast me with," Jackson said. "It's going to be a lot of fun. I think he's going to be the one that gives a lot of insight to a lot of fans about me. A lot of people that didn't know I had a twin and those that do know know that he is the one that always gives me the most grief. It's going to be a lot of fun to see what he brings to the table."

In a letter to the fans written at the Players' Tribune last week, Aaron Williams gave Jackson a ton of praise for turning his attitude towards the game and the community around in his tenure with the Bills. Williams also announced his retirement from the game of football in that letter to the fans of Buffalo.

Jackson said that he was happy to be part of Williams' transformation with the Bills, and said he has nothing but respect for the former Bills safety.

"He's grown so much, and I couldn't be more proud of the way he's grown up," Jackson said. "We're all not perfect and we all make mistakes. The best thing we can do is learn from those mistakes. That was one of the things that I loved about him the most. He was willing to admit that he made mistakes. I think it's hard for a lot of guys to do that, but once you do that it allows you to grow and develop into the person or the man you want to be. He took that upon himself. I was just there to kind of help guide him, but he did all the hard work himself. He transformed himself into a positive person in the community, and was excited to go be a part of anything I was doing in the community. It takes a special person to do that."
